Privacy Policy

Hueband is a private mood-sharing app for couples. We designed it so that only you and your partner can see each other's moods. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the third-party services that process data on our behalf.

Information we collect

Account information

Your name (as you enter it or as provided by Sign in with Apple / Google)
Your email address (from your chosen sign-in provider)
A unique user ID assigned by Firebase Authentication

Couple & mood data

Mood selections you record (emoji, label, color, timestamp)
Custom moods you create
Reactions you send to your partner's moods
Invite codes and couple pairing information

Device & notification data

Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) push tokens, so we can deliver mood updates and nudges to your devices
App version, platform (iOS/Android), and basic device metadata for diagnostics

Purchase data

If you subscribe to Hueband Pro, RevenueCat records your subscription status and a pseudonymous purchase identifier. We never see or store your payment card details — those stay with Apple or Google.

Crash & diagnostic data

If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics collects stack traces, device state, and a pseudonymous installation identifier so we can fix the bug.

How we use your information

To create your account and pair you with your partner
To sync your moods, reactions, and custom moods to your partner's device
To send push notifications you've opted into (new moods, nudges, reactions)
To process subscription purchases and restore them across your devices
To diagnose crashes and improve reliability

Third-party services

We rely on a small set of trusted services. Each one has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.

Firebase Authentication (Google)

Sign-in, email, display name, user ID.

Cloud Firestore (Google)

Mood entries, custom moods, reactions, couple pairing records.

Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google)

Push notification tokens and delivery.

Firebase Crashlytics (Google)

Crash reports and diagnostic logs.

RevenueCat

Subscription state and purchase validation. Payments themselves are handled by Apple or Google.

Who can see your moods

Mood entries, custom moods, and reactions are visible only to you and the partner you are paired with. Firestore security rules enforce this at the server level — no other users of Hueband can read your couple's data.

Data retention & deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account & Data. This wipes your local data, removes you from your couple, and deletes your account record. If you unpair from your partner, you can choose to keep or delete your local mood history.

Children

Hueband is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA / UK).

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. The in-app Delete Account & Data option satisfies deletion requests. For anything else, email us and we'll respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the effective date and surface the change in-app before the new version takes effect.
